~never take a shortcut, but always take the back roads?!~Â COUNTDOWN 9 Days
So, I totally just got lost for like, 25 minutes in the Aue Park and area, trying to make it to the Dynamo Buro…… Â I swear to god, finding your way around Europe-Germany->Kassel can be a bit frustrating. Â ”Here, take the short cut! Â It’s much nicer” a friend tells me – sure sure, and then after 40 minutes and I am on a huge unknown steep hill called “pancake street?!” Â I’ve lost my patience. Â I am always a fan of taking the back-roads home – key word ‘home’ not ‘to work’. Â Note to self – NEVER assume ANYTHING in Kassel and it will ALWAYS take longer than you think it will to get ANYWHERE! Â *sigh*
Buzz buzz buzz! Â Lot’s has been accomplished in the last couple days. Â Germany and the US (!!!) made it to the next round, the culture tent has been ordered (we have yet to see what it looks like….) and we grabbed a bunch of deco at the Characatura. Â That is going to be really funny, I’m sure. Â We are going to have to carry a paper mache English bulldog that’s about 7 feet tall. Â We also found a giant cut out of England made from wood and green carpet, and don’t worry, we found northern Ireland too (a wee piece of wood very funny in comparison to the ridiculous England board.) Â Giant wooden cutout of football here, cartoon there! Â I think it will all come together nicely.
Tonight, there is the last general meeting with all the heads of staff team to lay out the calender and tighten up the details for the following week. Â I imagine it will consist of 20 minutes of cigarette smoking “hold on, lemme smoke just one more before we start”, some coffee drinking (only milk, no sugar?), and possible beer-ing. Â Then, after 30 minutes of small talk, everyone will focus REALLY hard for 25 minutes of some serious talk, and I mean serious. Â From what I gather, the Dynamos appear not to ever work – true. Â But what it really is, is that they banter for 75% of the time, and work super serious for the rest, and somehow, it all gets done. Â Any more work than that, and they would consider it unhealthy. Â Love it.

Picture this: four guys standing on the stage wearing masks and overalls. The strobe light begins to flash and in the first moment you ask yourself: Is this Carneval? Not such a longshot considering the band comes from Köln and sits high atop the mountain of tomfoolery. Of course, the band has much more to offer than just wearing crazy costumes. In the first moments, they accomplish their goal: to stand up and rock!
After two or three songs, She’s All That gets listeners into the groove, or not, depending on your musical taste. But if you give into it, this band is a complete experience, especially live! This is where the party’s at! The music is a special blend of rock, electro beats, and reggae. The female lead singer has a certain special approach that ties it all together. She is an absolute scene-stealer and always encourages audience participation. Comparisons to bands like Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Prodigy, or Apollo 440 are often made and aren’t too far off. If the audience doesn’t have the famous stick up their asses, then dancing, rocking, and singing with the band is bound to happen!
At the end of the concert, the shouts of encore echo through the halls. The band gives more than enough of what the audience wants and at the end of it, everyone is happy to have experienced this one of a kind concert. Whoever does not want to believe these praises for a relatively unknown band can use any given video links to get another opinion. You, my dear people, will have the opportunity to form your own opinion at the upcoming Bolz World Cup on the 1oth of July, when She’s All That plays live at the Waldauer Wiesen. Their CD is also available for purchase – just look for their debut album “Extra Fruity Disgusting†in stores.
There must be zillions of movies about football. But we think that most of them aren´t very good. We can’t possibly watch ‘Germany – A Summer Story’ one more time. We are now digging in are archives and are finding some real highlights. So, if you want to chill out for a couple of hours after playing football all day long and/or celebrating, stop by the culture tent.
